9/11 Why: More Important Than How

If you look for the social-economic motive, you will not have to wait for history to tell you what was propaganda and what was truth.
-- George Seldes

9/11 research is a rabbit-hole of Byzantine complexity full of snares and delusions and peopled with false friends, lunatics, earnest lost souls and a few heroes. It's not necessary to understand all the nuances of science and bureaucracy that allowed the government to get away with mass murder, blame it on swarthy foreigners (of whom many are eager accomplices) and use the incident as (in the words of the Cheney, Jeb Bush et al cabal, the Project for a New American Century) "a new Pearl Harbor." At this critical juncture in human history, it's only necessary to understand why they did it. The motive was Peak Oil, a disaster which will affect everyone on the planet, about which all must enlighten themselves and for which all must prepare.

"The tyranny of power is here. Current events tell us that those who killed Kennedy can only perpetuate their power by promoting social upheaval both at home and abroad. And that will lead not to revolution but to repression. I suggest to you, my friend, that the interests of those who killed Kennedy now transcend national boundaries and national priorities. No doubt we are dealing now with an international conspiracy. We must face that fact - and not waste any more time microanalyzing the evidence. That's exactly what they want us to do. They have kept us busy for so long. And I will bet, buddy, that is what will happen to you. They'll keep you very, very busy and, eventually, they'll wear you down. The truth was easily ascertainable. I feel that my work on the assassination is an accomplishment which required little intelligence, minimal analytic ability, and no special talents. Rather, it reflected a willingness to bear witness to the truth irrespective of the consequences. In my responsibility to adhering to the truth as I saw it, I have been and will continue to be, oblivious to all the consequences of its expression."

Deep Politics of 9/11

written Summer 2004

Motivations for allowing 9/11 to happen

The attacks were allowed to happen to facilitate an aggressive policy of world empire, particularly in the Middle East and Central Asian oil fields, which contain energy supplies that will become even more critical in the near future as oil extraction declines in the non-Islamic world. (It has been said that the last two barrels of oil will be Saudi and Iraqi.)

The truth of 9/11 would cause major political shifts in our country, especially if many people dared to open up psychologically to the deceptions. It took decades for most people to understand that Lee Harvey Oswald did not shoot President Kennedy, that there was a conspiracy to keep JFK from scaling back the Cold War -- but by then, domestic politics had shifted from civil rights and peace toward the so-called Reagan revolution. We don't have four decades for people to understand the truths of 9/11.

There is circumstantial evidence that remote control software, not amateur flight school drop outs, was used to fly the plane into the mostly empty, under re-construction part of the Pentagon (and therefore, the World Trade Center as well), although this will probably never be proved 100% (just like the identities of the assassins of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King remain unknown - although the motivations of the government conspirators have been well documented).

However, neither the corporate media conglomerates nor the foundation-funded "left alternative" media are interested in investigating what actually happened on 9/11, even though much of the "evidence" has been disproved or is extremely questionable at best.

The official 9/11 Commission is an official coverup, even if they posture and pretend to be probing. Key facts about the Air Force failure to protect its own headquarters have been ignored, including the "wargames" that day that confused the military response to the hijackings. ALL of the commissioners have severe conflicts of interest. It's a repeat of the "Warren Commission" that cover up the military / CIA murder of President John F. Kennedy.

The chair of the official investigation of the "9/11 intelligence failure" is Thomas Kean, the former governor of New Jersey -- who is on the board of Amerada Hess petroleum, which was invested in a Saudi consortium that was part of the scheme to build an oil pipeline across Afghanistan to connect the Caspian Sea / Central Asian oil and gas fields with Pakistan, India and deep water ports for export to the United States, China, Japan and Europe.

The 9/11 coverup, the ongoing massacres in Iraq, the plans for world conquest and domestic fascism are interrelated, motivated by the empire's knowledge that global oil extraction is peaking and that the "American way of life" isn't likely to be maintainable much longer (and therefore the police state is being established because the majority of American citizens will be furious when they realize they have been duped).

One bright spot: the phony computerized ballot machines being installed are proof that the Republicans are a minority party - since they wouldn't be bothering to set up the theft of the 2004 election if they were confident of the outcome. However, if phony ballot machines are used to install John Kerry, who supports Bush's oil wars, as the alleged alternative, this could legitimize the use of these machines in the public consciousness, since the fact a "Democrat" had been selected would make these ballot counters seem authentic.

Control over the United States economy and its war machine is the greatest prize in human history - and spending a mere couple billion on new ballot machines to ensure its continued control by a tiny elite is a good investment, from their perspective.

9/11 Five Years Later: What Have We Accomplished?
An Assessment of the 9/11 Truth Movement
By Emanuel Sferios
Monday, Sep 11, 2006

.... The world today stands on the brink of a confluence three major, global crises: peak oil, global warming and the imminent collapse of the global banking system. All of these are inter-related, and have greed as their ultimate cause. Greed is the common human trait of wanting more than one really needs to be healthy and happy. It exists in (almost) all of us, to varying degrees. Gluttony, for example, the desire for more food or drink than one really needs, is a form of greed. So is lust. Envy, the desire to have what others have, is another form of greed. Greed, to put it another way, is the psyche's unquenchable thirst for ever-increasing amounts of material energy. It is the false identification of the Self with the material world, and while I don't want to get overly religious or spiritual here, it is important to understand this, because it allows us to empathize with those whom we may perceive as our enemies, those whom we believe are somehow different from us (yet there really is no "other"). It is only with compassion that we can begin to see the true nature of 9/11, the truth behind the truth, so to speak.

9/11 was a pretext to launch the War on Terror, a war to control the world's remaining energy reserves in order to maintain the over-consumptive lifestyle that Dick Cheney insists is "not negotiable." And the War on Terror was conceived in response to peak oil, which threatens to end the current system of corporate greed, over-consumption and exploitation. That system requires ever-increasing amounts of material energy to continue, and peak oil is nothing less than the end of that increase. The War on Terror is, therefore, a war on "terra" to maintain the illusion of perpetual growth, the myth that over-consumption can go on forever. It is an extreme manifestation of the ego's desperate attempt to live forever, and it is doomed to fail. The earth is finite, and we cannot continue to to deplete its energy forever.

This can be seen as a crisis, which certainly it is, but it is only so in the sense that it demands a transformation of our political and economic systems, our consumption-based lifestyles, and our self-identities. As such it is also an opportunity, an opportunity to transcend our own greed, to face the truth of who we really are (interconnected with everyone else, and with the earth), and to make the necessary and inevitable sacrifices required of us. (Remember that sacrifice is not the giving up of the things we need. It is the giving up of the things we don't need, including our illusions.)

The neocons are so far unable to make this necessary transformation. They are trapped in the very system they have created, but there are those all across the planet who are trying, starting small and making some of the necessary sacrifices. People are struggling everywhere to create cooperative institutions of mutual aid and solidarity, to resist the forces of ignorance and greed. One needs look no further then the Bolivarian Revolution sweeping across Central and South America to understand this. And there are many people here in the US, as well, exerting the same efforts, implementing a powerdown strategy and working towards the re-localization of social and political institutions.

The question lies in whether the forces of light (reason, compassion, truth) will overcome the forces of darkness (greed, fear, ignorance), whether the spirit of the Bolivarian Revolution will sweep over the world, or whether the neocons and their counterparts in other countries will sweep the world away. This is up to us to decide, both collectively and individually, and we are constantly making that decision every moment, in every action we undertake. In that light, let us always remember that we can't really fight fire with fire. We fight fire with water, and to the degree that we have failed thus far to end the War on Terror, is to the degree that we have based our own actions--our own activism--on anger or fear. I am no exception, and yet like many, I aspire.

Towards Peace and Truth,
Emanuel

SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

September 11, 2001 was the opening scene in the final act of the show we sometimes call, "Society as we know it." I'm not saying this event marked the beginning of THE END OF EVERYTHING, although it may be that, but it was definitely the beginning of the end of things as they have appeared over the last generation or so.
Since the assassination of John F. Kennedy, an international, crypto-fascist syndicate has been rapidly consolidating its grip on this planet. Changes to the global system have been implemented slowly, consistently and in a manner so subtle that only a tiny fraction of the population in the industrialized world ever noticed anything was wrong.
In the states targeted for control, however, where the interests of what are now the G8 states did not correspond to the interests of the target populations, liberal amounts of genocide, torture and "market discipline" prepared the planet for the overt imperium that is about to be created. The focus during the Cold War was, Containment of Communism. When the Soviet Union collapsed, that focus switched, immediately, to the Expansion of market economies. But how can this expansion go forward if opposition to it is growing with each passing day?
A final push was needed to justify the theft of the whole damn show. And the world watched on CNN. In reality, what has happened is that a few haves out there have picked a fight with the vast majority of people in the world who happen to be have-nots. Of course, nobody in power in the industrialized world comes out and says that. Instead, they roll tape of the World Trade Center towers falling to the ground and talk about the need to fight terrorism.
In other words, 9/11 makes the Reichstag Fire look like a boyscout exercise. Regardless of the details of the genesis of 9/11, the effects are essentially the same. Ask yourself: Cui bono? Who benefits?
In 2000, humanity was at a crossroads. At that point, things probably could have gone either way. After September 11, however, the die has been cast, and we are now witnessing the ascendancy of the same interests that supported Hitler, killed JFK and perpetrated countless and incomprehensible acts against people all over the globe.
I think it would be wise to bear in mind that the events of 9/11 will probably pale in comparison to the diabolical plots that may be hatched in the near future. I say that because, even as bad as 9/11 was, it wasn't enough to polarize the world. Something else is going to happen that will require a bold move by the G8 states. I don't know what that event will be, but it will be transformational in nature, changing the way we think about freedom of speech and movement, money, surveillance, state sovereignty and many other factors.
In the wake of 9/11, the outward appearances of things didn't change significantly---except at airports. After the next event, even the most deaf, dumb and blind Americans will scratch their heads and think, "Gee, there are soldiers on the street." America as we think we know it is already gone, and has been for years. What will be different is that even the rhetorical image of America will be shattered into pieces. The Home of the Free and the Land of the Brave, etc? Remember all of that? The mask will be off and we will finally get to gaze upon the actual system we created with our decades of apathy and sloth.

Sidebar from NameBase NewsLine, No. 4, January-March 1994:
The Man Who Wasn't There
by Daniel Brandt

About the time that my two colleagues plotted a trajectory toward the Dallas symposium, I was relieved that PIR's telephone had stopped ringing, and there was some light at the other end of the TV specials. Yet another media feeding frenzy during yet another assassination anniversary. "I hope I'm not around for the 50th," I told researcher Scott Malone when he called a few weeks earlier to check on something or other that I've since happily forgotten.

After Peter Dale Scott's exhausting "Deep Politics and the Death of JFK," I needed a rest before starting on the other worthwhile 1993 JFK book, Gaeton Fonzi's "The Last Investigation." By now I've only a vague idea of the number of JFK books in NameBase, but the notion that it's enough already is increasingly distinct. Fortunately Fonzi's book was easy reading, and early on a zinger perked me up. Fonzi describes a visit to Vince Salandria in 1975, the earliest assassination researcher who at one time was a mentor to many starting out in the field:

"I'm afraid we were misled," Salandria said sadly. "All the critics, myself included, were misled very early. I see that now. We spent too much time and effort microanalyzing the details of the assassination when all the time it was obvious, it was blatantly obvious that it was a conspiracy. Don't you think that the men who killed Kennedy had the means to do it in the most sophisticated and subtle way? They chose not to. Instead, they picked the shooting gallery that was Dealey Plaza and did it in the most barbarous and openly arrogant manner. The cover story was transparent and designed not to hold, to fall apart at the slightest scrutiny.... We must face that fact -- and not waste any more time microanalyzing the evidence. That's exactly what they want us to do.... They'll keep you very, very busy and, eventually, they'll wear you down." (p. 29)

The name Vince Salandria was not familiar to me; I knew only that he had assisted in the Garrison investigation. Fonzie mentions that Salandria has never written a book, never capitalized on his research, and by 1975 had faded into the background. I found an address for Salandria and wrote a letter explaining that I thought his perspective deserved a wider audience. He graciously sent 60 photocopied pages of articles he had written from 1964-1977, and mentioned in his cover letter that "I still feel that shifting the analysis from a micro to a macro approach is essential to freeing the bona fide critics from a quagmire."

Half of the copies were of articles he wrote from 1964-1966, by way of showing, as he described in his letter, that "I was perhaps the earliest person to attack the Warren Report microanalytically." This isn't a boast, it's a confession. By December 1971 he described himself as "among the earliest and GUILTIEST of the researchers in my protracted analyses of the shots, trajectories and wounds of the assassination.... While the researchers have involved themselves in consuming preoccupation with the microanalytic searching for facts of how the assassination was accomplished, there has been almost no systematic thinking on why President Kennedy was killed."

In this article and another written in 1977, Salandria looks at the assassination with a fresh set of assumptions. He borrows from his friend Professor Thomas Katen, who characterized the Warren Report as a "transparent conspiracy" rather than a cover-up. The deeper you look into the evidence, the clearer it becomes. The clues are buried, diffused, and time-released so that those who look hardest become the most fragmented and demoralized. And savvy political leaders, who might normally feel that something can be done, are the very ones who get the message most clearly: "The cryptocracy is in control, so go along if you expect to get along." Then there are those who need to deny, or refuse to see, or just enjoy grotesque minutiae -- for them, bread and circuses and murder mysteries are sufficiently harmless.

After talking with Salandria in 1975, Fonzi flew back to Miami. "I didn't quite grasp exactly what he was talking about, but I had the uneasy feeling he was advancing some awesomely frightening theories. Then it crossed my mind that, perhaps this time for sure, Salandria was crazy." By 1993, of course, Fonzi is much more concerned that his friend ISN'T crazy.

I instinctively refused when my colleagues urged me to attend the 30th anniversary symposium with them. But it wasn't until I heard from the Warren Commission's first micro-critic, the man who stopped being there sometime around the 8th anniversary, that I began to understand why.

an excerpt from Crossing the Rubicon by Michael Ruppert

The why and the how

It is my belief that sometime during the period between late 1998 and early 2000, as certain elites became aware of the pending calamity of Peak Oil, they looked at the first highly confidential exploration and drilling results from the Caspian Basin and shuddered. The economy had already been milked close to collapse, and the Caspian results could not be kept secret forever. The data would surely come out, and what would happen to the markets then? What if some of the major oil companies had been inflating Caspian numbers and hyping up hopes of a bonanza in order to pump their stock value? What if all the inflated reserve estimates revealed themselves to be bogus all at once?

A major economic collapse was imminent in the fall of 2001. I issued the first of only two economic bulletins from FTW, warning of an imminent market collapse, on September 9th. 1 The only other economic alert I ever issued came just before the massive collapse of the Dow Jones in 2002. Remember that? The one where your 401(k) got wiped out? The one that wiped out trillions of dollars in shareholder equity?

It is likely that some of those early Caspian drilling reports came from companies like ExxonMobil, where Condoleezza Rice sat on the board. She was an expert on Kazakhstan. The elites began to grasp that the hoped for Caspian reserves would not even offer a short reprieve from the onslaught of Peak Oil. Through declassified CIA reports we know that the CIA was aware that US oil production had peaked in 1970 and that the Agency was tracking Soviet oil production in the hopes of predicting a Russian peak in 1977. 2 The CIA is Wall Street. Even if the oil had been there, it could not be monetized, because there was no safe route or pipeline to get it out. Alarms started going off.

It was time for the major players to cash out, and that's what some 20 giant corporations from Enron to WorldCom, to Merck, to Halliburton did, as those in the know pumped and dumped their stocks, sucking the wealth out of pension funds, small investors, and mutual funds from 2000 to 2002. For the most part only the smaller investors and funds were hurt. The people on top cashed out and moved "their" money elsewhere.

Dick Cheney and the neocons stepped up with a plan. That was probably more than Al Gore and the neoliberals had to offer in light of the emergency now building. Any plan was better than no plan. Obviously, the first objective for Dick Cheney and the neocons had been to secure control of the White House in the 2000 election so that the rest of the plan could be implemented if necessary. That is why I noted in a January 2001 FTW essay titled "Empire," that the Bush cabinet was a war cabinet and that a major conflict was coming.

Their next task was to find out how much time there was before things started collapsing behind high energy prices and dwindling supply. How bad was it really? Who could say? The oil books were as cooked as the Enron books. How much oil was there really? Where was it? Who owned it? How long before the wheels started coming off? It was time to find all of it out accurately and quickly, but in secret. As the election of 2000 passed, the Caspian results grew continually more disappointing.

Summation: Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury 573

This would explain the urgency with which the Bush administration convened the National Energy Policy Development Group -- under Dick Cheney -- immediately after taking office in January. What do we do now? That was the bottom line. I believe that this was where the basic motive for 9/11 was fully articulated, understood, and accepted. Even though preparations for the attacks had been underway for years, the moment of truth about whether to execute them did not arrive until Cheney's group had a hard look at the numbers. This would explain why the administration fought all the way to the US Supreme Court to hide those records, and why Dick Cheney felt it necessary to take Justice Antonin Scalia duck hunting in a desperate effort to keep the records secret.

Scalia and the other "Supremes" delivered for him. On July 2, 2004, in a little noticed 7-2 ruling, the Supreme Court upheld the right of the administration to keep the NEPDG's records secret from the American people. I was not at all surprised. Nothing surprised me after the Supreme Court's ruling in the 2000 election.

After the NEPDG concluded its work in late April 2001, I think an irrevocable decision had been made to cross the Rubicon, that bloody line between an ailing republic and the empire that irreversibly supervened. In May 2001 President Bush placed Dick Cheney in charge of all planning for a terror attack, effectively giving him complete control over FEMA, the military, everything. In June 2001 the NORAD scramble protocols that had worked efficiently since 1976 were rewritten to take most decision-making power out of the hands of Air Force field commanders. Although minor exceptions in those protocols still allowed commanders to act on their own in certain cases, as General Arnold did, the change itself provided deniability for elements of the confusion that Dick Cheney was going to deliberately engineer and control.

From their perspective, the Republican neocons were faced with a choice of massive panic and collapse on the financial markets; a loss of public faith in the political system; and the loss of most of their own power and wealth if the truth were known.

To borrow a metaphor from Professor Peter Dale Scott, both the neolibs and the neocons were players at a very lucrative crap game. Though they often played viciously against each other, their prime objective was to keep the game going at all costs. Whenever the game was threatened -- as is the case with 9/11 -- they quickly closed ranks to protect it while the turf over which they continued to fight among themselves grew smaller and smaller and the contests more heated and bloody.

Within their own mindset and within the parameters of an economic and governmental system that functioned (as it continues to function) in the mode of organized crime -- incapable of transparency, riddled with corruption and cooked books, based upon the destruction of life for the sake of net profits and supremacy -- these men, led by Dick Cheney, chose what they thought was their only logical option. I believe it seemed to them the "right" thing to do; after all, it was only a few thousand lives. Other rulers have made similar choices in the past. But as all empires learn, once the river is crossed there is no turning back. In front of that decision there lay a continuum of ever more vicious bloodletting, decline, and collapse.

The pie was shrinking, and any political diversity remaining in the system was heading for extinction as rapidly as are thousands of species on this afflicted planet. Perhaps mankind, too, is on nature's endangered species list, as we ironically and half-heartedly lament the white rhino and the California condor, the Bengal tiger and the black bear.

The imminent energy crisis was going to be both apocalyptic and unavoidable, and it was going to arrive sooner than expected. Like any "well-planned" government operation, the planning and initial preparations for what became 9/11 had begun in the Clinton administration as a contingency plan. That's when the 19 so-called hijackers (and/or their handlers) began establishing their legends. But the Caspian news would account for the absolutely unfathomable number of mistakes that were made in both the plan's execution and the subsequent cover-up. It was a rush job. Quickly, any number of classified or once-classified contingency plans for a staged attack on the US -- like Operation Northwoods -- came down off the shelf. As Brzezinski's Grand Chessboard shows, the need for such an event had already been acknowledged in 1997 -- conveniently, just as al Qaeda and the Taliban were emerging as world and regional players. Operation Northwoods, declassified in the late 1990s, had been planned in 1962.

Since the end of the cold war there had been plenty of time to put a new potential enemy in place, and September 11 th was not a new idea.

As Zbigniew Brzezinski had written in 1997, the "immediate" task was to develop and simultaneously control a "direct external threat" to manufacture an attack "like a new Pearl Harbor." That required a credible (at least in the public mind) and well-developed enemy. The need for the same kind of attack was mentioned by the Project for a New American Century (PNAC) in its September 2000 report Rebuilding America's Defenses. Such an attack would then provide a pretext for massive sequential military intervention to secure the energy supplies of the Middle

East and the lesser (but terribly important) oil-bearing regions including West Africa, Venezuela, Colombia, certain portions of the Southwest Pacific, and any other region with smaller but more readily accessible reserves. The essential thing would be that terrorists or their "allies" must conveniently turn up in each needed area, on schedule.

No problem! That's what the CIA, Mossad, MI6, and every other major intelligence agency does for a living.

www.kolumbus.fi/totuus/doc/motive.html

A recent news article that was otherwise excellent (go read it) contained a curious assertion: that 9/11 truthseeking had failed to produce a sufficient motive for the alleged perpetrators inside the US Government.

The neoconspiracy had many heavy motives for executing a false flag operation that would get blamed on arab terrorists. In reverse order of importance:

5) They probably would have been pleased to note the beneficial effects the rather Muslim-focused War on Terror would bestow on Israel, although this can't have been a primary factor, since Iraq was invaded before Iran.

4) Money is always a powerful motivator. Though the WTC gold heist would appear to be bogus after all, war profits cannot be denied.

3) They clearly harbored some kind of irrational grudge on Iraq specifically, a long-standing obsession. More broadly, the geopolitical importance of the Middle East and the Caspian region would increase.

2) Oil would beckon them even under ordinary circumstances, but this is an extraordinary time. For the first, last and only time in world history, global oil production is about to enter a permament decline. This is called Peak Oil, and if this is the first time you hear about this phenomenon, you are dangerously behind the times - get up to speed, quick. Peak Oil will not be quite the disaster some claim it to be, but it will be catastrophic to the world-view of the neocons - unless they can secure the largest remaining oil deposits, with, say, a huge army in the middle of them.

Deeds that might seem impossible to believe in the normal run of things become quite beliavable at the top of the peak.

But the greatest motive of them all is also the oldest and most far-reaching.

1) Power. Why worry about the details of exactly what they were after, when September 11 gave them a general-purpose excuse to do anything they wanted, globally and domestically?

Do note that you do not have to believe in the idea of Peak Oil. All that matters is that the neocons believed in it - that is the concept of power. When would they have become aware of it, at the latest? During the meetings of the Energy Task Force, the release of whose minutes Dick Cheney fought all the way to the Supreme Court. We do know what some of the graphs in the documents mapped: Iraqi oil wells.

Al-Qaeda ("they hate our freedoms") would have been annihilated as a result of 9/11 if it wasn't for the recruiting boost they get from the Iraq debacle. Instead, the ancient accusing finger of cui bono points directly at the neocons.

THE PUZZLE OF 9/11
by Bevin

For over a year now we have had this puzzle before us with the pieces scattered here and there, begging for interpretation. For so many it has been too evil to fathom, for others a fruitless endeavor requiring too great the elusive proof. But today we know why New York City and the Pentagon seemed so ill-prepared before such low-tech terrorism as we witnessed on September 11, 2001. How was it possible that these institutions, looming so great on the skyline and the world stage could seem so helpless before third-world operatives despite the world's greatest Air Force, seemingly oblivious to its own discipline, our taxpayer dollars for 24-hour air cover nowhere in evidence, and the victims so brutally terrorized in their suffering, pulverized right before our eyes while we watched them cling to life? (Even the doors to the roof were locked, this protected no-fly zone where small planes for years were warned they would be shot out of the skies if they came any closer). Our eyes told us that what was happening before us was true, but our intellect rebelled. Today our eyes are open again to expose the prowess of the mighty machine in action, so noticeably AWOL on 9/11.
September 11th created in the minds of Americans a stark sense and image of collective helplessness that agitated against all our received wisdom. That is why so many Americans, in shock that day watching the ungodly terror unfold in a few blocks of one city in America, now seem unmoved by the wholesale terror bombardment of an entire nation. To enable the TOTAL bombardment of Iraq, an act that SHOULD be repulsing us en masse, was a tall order. It required that the population be psychologically prepared to dismiss the 9/11 reenactment on Iraq. That is why Iraq HAD to be connected to 9/11. THAT is why the earlier plans for "war" on Iraq were launched that very day of 9/11, and THAT is why no one came to the rescue of Americans on 9/11... to psychologically prepare Americans for the kill launches of these past few days.
Some say this government would not have arranged for 9/11 to happen. Yet look how prepared they were to launch their "war" plans against Iraq, organizing meetings THAT VERY DAY. Do people do such things in the throes of grief and shock even before they know the criminally responsible party? No. Even before we had the SLIGHTEST IDEA WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE? It was days before we learned that it was allegedly masterminded by a friend of the bush family. We know the family was spirited out of the nation quickly without questioning by a grand jury, without any attempts to enlist their aid in the investigation of what the FBI had long-identified was a prime suspect in terror attacks against American interests. And we know that high-ranking military personnel cancelled flights the day of 9/11.
All of this is why bush HAD TO MAKE THE ARGUMENT OF A 9/11 CONNECTION WITH IRAQ, AN ARGUMENT WE KNOW TO BE A LIE, AS ONE OF THE MAJOR ARGUMENTS FOR THIS INVASION. He had to create the connection, the synapse to complete the circle of psychological control through propaganda and demonstration by fire, the shared national sense of Helplessness Suffered and now Helplessness Flung Off, in order to succeed psychologically with the masses this day. Over 60% of Americans believe there is a connection between 9/11 and Iraq. The bait was inserted into our collective consciousness and the trap has been sprung... the circle has been closed.
By standing down on 9/11, they made America look helpless. It was never helpless. Today we watch what must be the thousand-fold worse helplessness of Iraqis, where the slaughter is not a few city blocks in NYC and DC, a field in Pa. It is an entire country under the Reign of Unspeakable Terror. But because allegedly WE were helpless, now we are unmoved by this unconscionable slaughter and living hell of metal on fire. This is our Kristallnacht writ large and larger, with more to come.
It all fits. September 11th has been a puzzle, but with the terror attack on all of Iraq, all the pieces now fall into place. And when all the pieces of a puzzle fit, you have your answer.
God Save the United States of America, its citizens, and its soul.

Yes, absolutely, the goal is to increase terrorism and therefore legitimize the paradigm they have created and which will keep them in power forever. They needed to recreate the structure of the Cold War (evil-good, either-or absolutes) so they could convince the public that they are the new generals (not the dems). If necessary, they would blow up buildings and blame it on the Arabs.
This is also how you know the true rightwing conservative is dead. This is precisely the form of big government, funded by corrupt corporations and with no checks, that conservatives have always professed to hate. The neocons today are not thinkers and analysts. They are emotional ranting nincompoops drowning in contradiction.
Had an old rightwing friend of mine who told me years ago that the NAME OF THE GAME IS TO SPEND MONEY AND STIR UP TROUBLE.
